My daughter, Capitana Camille and her attentive crew on the cargo boat to the mainland.
We had to permanently closed one net due to the large number of bats and the few numbers of birds caught!
Life lesson #142: Don’t handle bats in mistnets unless you know what you are doing. No joke.
Utila has something like 17 species of mosquitos and they are ALL out to get you during fall rainy season.
One advantage of early morning surveys: the beautiful sunrises.
Always look under your pillow before going to sleep!
Water is sacred on the island. And on Utila, sometimes it is something to be scared of as well!!!!
